Labour declares indefinite strike from June 3 over minimum wage, electricity tariff hike

The Organised Labour has declared an indefinite nationwide strike from Monday, June 3 over the failure of the federal government to conclude negotiations on a new national minimum wage and reverse the hike in the electricity tariff.

Recall that it was earlier reported today that Organised Labour under the aegis of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and its Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, counterpart, might declare a nationwide strike from Monday if the tripartite committee on the new national minimum wage failed to meet the expectations of Labour, reports Vanguard.

At a briefing today, leaders of NLC and TUC pleaded with Nigerians to bear with them, saying “Apologies for inconveniences but commitment to pursue the cause to its conclusion.”
