The Sir and Lady Goodluck Obi Foundation, a non-governmental organisation on Monday, offered N500,000 each to 18 indigent persons for business support and offered food items to people.
The event, that drawn it’s beneficiaries from Umuanuka town in Nnewi, Anambra State, resident in Lagos, had men, youth and women as beneficiaries of the NGO’s annual gesture to lift people out of poverty.
The programme, began with praises to God for His benovelency to the community’s sons and daughters, spiced up with the handing over of cheques of N500,000 each to 18 persons by sir and lady Obi and the offer of bags of rice and cartoons of noddles to support the family.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos reports that, the NGO with focus on youth empowerment, widow’s support, award of scholarship to students also propagates the Gospel for the salvation of souls.
Speaking at the event, the Guest Lecturer, Mr George Emetuouchi, a renowned sales man, said investment on human was the best.
Emetuouchi, who thought the participants the rudiments if business success, to enable beneficiaries make the best use of the fund, said that, business principles should be adhered to for a return on investment.
According to him setting daily, weekly, monthly and yearly goals for the business is essential for business growth and needed expansion.
“You must investment the support seed in a trade you about in order not to crash out weeks after starting because of lack of knowledge of the business.
“Try learn from those in the business before you and know how best or season to apply your capital to make headway in your chosen trade.
“Try to be honest in your dealings with customers and prospective clients to secure their loyalty and trust for those are your asset to development and growth,” he said.
In his remark at the event, sir Obi said that, his inspiration to embark on the charity gesture was born out of his covenant with God after being rescued by God from poverty and serial debts during his prime business years.
Obi, charged the beneficiaries to make good use of the financial support and grow in their chosen ventures and help other in like manner.
“It is my own little way of touching lives just as the scriptures directed that the have should cater for the have not for a better society.
“It has been a vocation I have led my family members to take up for years as a service to humanity.
“We have built churches in communities in Anambra and Lagos, award scholarship to students many of which are ongoing but at the moment the project drive is on individuals business aid to assist persons have good life,” he said.
Mr Fidelis Okonkwu, a beneficiary, and a confectionary seller at the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex market, said that, the support would enable him boost his trade with.
Okonkwuo, thanked the NGO for the support, pledged to assist others in need when his business blossoms.
