Wife of MFM General Overseer, TheNiche MD, Grandma Foods brand, others win award

The wife of Mountain Fire Ministry founder, Pastor Shade Olukoya, the Managing Director of The Niche Newspaper, Mr. Ikechukwu Amaechi and the Grandma Food brand, among others, were over the weekend honoured with the Eminence Global News Magazine awards of excellence.
Speaking at the event which held at the LCCI exhibition hall CBD, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, Mr Amaechi said that the failure of two Nigerian Information Ministers, namely late Dora Akunyeli and Alhaji Lai Mohammed to rebrand Nigeria shows that the so-called great Nigerian brand is non-existent.
Said he “I’m afraid there is no brand Nigeria. What are you promoting as brand Nigeria? What are you sustaining as brand Nigeria?”
According to him the failure of Nigeria to develop a great brand is the lack of the credible leadership needed to guide or drive the process, saying other nations of the world that even have less potemtials than Nigeria has successfully built great brands for themselves among the comity of nations.
Contributing her own perception on the issue of branding the CEO of Grandma Foods,Udo Stephanie Akwara stated that its imperative for a business to build a strong brand if it aims to be successful at the market place, adding however that branding for her should go with excellence of products and services-it should not just be based on packaging.
Akwara who was represented at the event by Kayode Emmanuel maintained that the fact that Grandma Foods are certified by well regarded organisations in America and Europe showcases the fact that their products are good and amenable at the market place.
She called on other SMEs to toe the line of excellence in their operations, saying that branding is good if the product and services equally meets needed standareds.
