Publishers, book connoisseurs to parley over dynamics of reading at NIBF 2023
One of the highlights of the forthcoming 22nd Nigerian International Book Fair (scheduled to take place in Lagos from Wednesday, May 10 to Saturday, May 13, 2023 will be a Reader’s Parley to be held on Friday, May 12.
The parley, which will feature a robust panel conversation between three literary publishers and two book connoisseurs, is a joining event specially contributed by the _Network of Book Clubs and Reading Culture Promoters in Nigeria_ (NBRP).
The panelists, namely: Othuke Ominiabohs (Masobe Books publisher); Azafi Omoluabi (CEO, Parresia Limited); Amara Chimeka (MD, Purple Shelves); and the Founder of CRIMMD Library,
Raphael James, will be joined Toyin Akinosho (Secretary General of avant-garde total arts promotions ensemble, the Committee for Relevant Art, CORA) who will moderate the session.
The NBRP is the aggregating organisation that brings together Book Clubs across Nigeria. With its membership drawn from all the geopolitical zones of Nigeria and all walks of life, the NBRP has hosted regular reading promotion activities across the country since its founding in November 2022 – the latest being the mega-advocacy Lagos Book Walk exercise on Thursday, April 23, 2023, which flagged off the tenure of Lagos, Nigeria’s former capital and commercial hub, as the Nigerian National Book Clubs City.
The Readers Parley is the second programme in the year-long programme of activities that will span all the Local Government Areas in Lagos State between April 2023 and April 2024.
