‘My job is done’, Obasanjo declares as he gives up seat for Peter Obi at public event

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo attracted attention at an event after offering his seat to Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.

 

The dramatic incident occurred during a celebration of the national award given to Prof. Benedict Oramah, President of the African Export-Import Bank.

 

In a viral video, the former president was seen summoning Obi from table nine and leading him to table one.

 

The switch was met with applause from the assembled audience.

 

Obasanjo stated, “In the presence of Nigerians,” as he proceeded to select the former Anambra State governor from his former seat.

 

“My job is done,” he declared after leading Obi to table one.

 

It should be noted that Obasanjo has yet to endorse a presidential candidate for the upcoming election, despite widespread speculation that Obi is his preferred candidate.

 

Prior to the event, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate met with the former president in a series of closed-door meetings.

 

Obasanjo also attended Obi’s recent meeting in London with Governor Nyesom Wike and his group.
