Bianca versus Ebele Obiano: When a lady meets an Ngbeke, By Peju Akande

It has become a slapstick on the internet; the slap Bianca Ojukwu, delivered to Ebele Obiano, wife of the former Governor of Anambra state at the inauguration of Charles Soludo, the new Governor of Anambra state.

Let me start by saying, I was shocked that Bianca, a woman I have long admired and followed since her days as MBGM (Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria) in 1988; she went on to win many more international beauty pageants – Miss Africa – 1988, Miss Intercontinental- 1989.

These are no easy feats considering that she is not just beauty, she is brains. A graduate of the University of Buckingham; University of Nigeria (UNN), Nigerian Law School. She is well educated; now add that to the fact that she was born into class; her father was the former governor of Anambra state and she married one of the most celebrated, wealthy and cerebral men in Nigeria, the late Biafran leader, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.

Now, after all said and not quite done with this Lady Bianca, to hear that she slapped the wife of an outgoing governor at a public function for that matter, didn’t quite sound like the polished lady I had admired for so long.

Who is Ebele Obiano?

The video that captured the fracas
She is the wife of Willie Obiano, former Governor of Anambra state.

She was reported to have come late for the inauguration and insisted on being driven straight to the arena. Security details refused to let because madam came late and that door of privilege had long been shut. So she was forced to trek a short distance to where a seat had been reserved for her. After seating for a while, she sighted Lady Bianca Ojukwu, a few feet away from her and made a move I am sure she utterly regrets now.

That move was not only unladylike; one would have thought that even if she was bestie with Bianca, she should have waited for the ceremony to be over before sauntering right across in her pink feathery dress and skewed blonde wig to taunt Bianca.

Details of exactly what she said is blurry; some report say she asked Bianca what she was doing at an APGA event after all, Bianca had vowed never to be a part of the Party again after Mrs. Obiano was reported to have scuttled Bianca’s senatorial ambitions in 2019.

Other reports said Ebele mocked Bianca saying, “I thought you said we would never be governor.”

The question to ask Bianca Ojukwu is, why not just ignore this feathery woman and act like no one’s talking?

Bianca is reported to have said, in an interview with Arise TV, that Mrs Obiano reeked of whisky, and  was aggressively putting her hand on her shoulders and at some point wanted to push off her headtie.

Then again, Bianca had heard the rumours, Mrs Obiano is a slapper, dealer beware!

Rumours about the Mrs Obiano who slaps other ladies in public; Ebele Obiano was reported to have slapped Mrs. Okeke, the wife of her husband’s deputy sometime in 2014. Mrs Okeke was reported to have complained that Mrs. Obiano wasn’t carrying her along in the affairs concerning women in the state. (Go google the story.)

Ebele Obiano and Bianca Ojukwu
Mrs. Obiano she was reported to have slapped a lady in pubic for sleeping with her husband, she is even reported to slap their drivers at will. (Google is our friend)

True or not, Mrs Obiano did not show class. Many of the stories about her are unsavoury and even if one were to dismiss all of these, what happened at Charles Soludo’s inauguration puts a stamp to all the unkind things said of her, this is who she truly is.

So when Mrs. Obiano in her pink feathery garb staggered to Bianca across the dais, front row with cameras flashing and the Master of Ceremony still working for his money, Bianca was quick to the draw, she delivered a slap so swiftly, it shocked Mrs. Obiano that she hastily  arranged her wig that was almost knocked off!

Heaven forbid the wig falls off your head in public, the spectacle uncovered will forever traumatize the spectators!

See, we women don’t look good arranging skewered wigs in public; it shows off our insecurities and our vulnerability. It’s kind of like the wind exposing the chicken’s rump, it’s not a pretty sight.

But Mrs. Obiano recovered quickly, though and once she was sure her wig hadn’t fallen off, good thing she sewed it tight; she clawed at Bianca and thankfully, thankfully before it degenerated into tearing of clothes and exposing diamond bras, some people came between the two women, suing for peace.

And by the way, who is that man, who under the guise of separating the women was tapping Bianca’s current? Ojukwu will shock you, o!

  1. The fact is that the two ladies acted like thugs although Bianca was worse. Verbal assault versus physical assault in law? Bianca would be declared guilty. Both of them are bad role models to the coming generation even though Bianca was more violent, uncouth and uncivilised in her approach. If she had said sorry madam or take exit to the security personnel she would have been greatly respected. She is even proud to the point of boasting that she is the one that slapped Obiano. Which age are we really?

  2. Under provocation you can not dictate how one will react especially where animosity existed on both parties.
The thing is Bianca was provoked and being human she reacted the way did
