2027: Ogalagu finally settles for APGA, vows to end ‘dormant representation’ in Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency

Tochukwu Ogalagu, chairman of the Zelunjo Empowerment Foundation, has pitched his tent with the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to contest the Ebonyi/Ohaukwu federal constituency seat in the 2027 general elections, ending weeks of political uncertainty.

Ogalagu made the declaration on Monday before a crowd of supporters at his Amike-Izhia home in Ohaukwu LGA, barely a month after resigning from the All Progressives Congress.

He said his decision followed “wide consultations with stakeholders” and was driven by APGA’s “stability and crisis-free record,” which he called critical to pursuing his legislative ambition. He dismissed “crisis-ridden political parties” as platforms that could sabotage his plans.

While formally joining APGA, Ogalagu took a pragmatic turn: he asked his supporters to still vote Governor Francis Nwifuru and President Bola Tinubu of the APC for governor and president, citing APGA’s current lack of candidates for both offices.

Supporters including Dr. Emmanuel Nwulegu and Maryjane Onwe from Ebonyi LGA, and Christopher Kelechukwu and Chikezie Michael Onwe from Ohaukwu LGA, endorsed the move. They cited Ogalagu’s track record in women and youth empowerment, educational scholarships, indigent care and youth employment through his foundation as proof of “inclusive leadership” without holding public office.

They described current representation in the constituency as “dormant” and said Ogalagu’s grassroots impact gives him credibility to do more with a legislative mandate.

Ogalagu’s exit from the APC last month had left his “T-Man Support Group” in wait-and-see mode. With APGA now confirmed as his platform, the group says it will mobilise the “Ogalagu Movement” across all wards in Ebonyi and Ohaukwu LGAs ahead of 2027.
