TrueVision Editor loses elder brother, Sir Sylvester Ogoegbulam

The death has been announced of Sir Sylvester Anamelechi Ogoegbulem. Aged 61, late Sir Sylvester, a member of the Knight of Saint Mulumba (KSM), is a native of Amadaba, Ibiasoegbe, Oru-West Local Council of Imo state.

Until his death, he was the Provost, College of Nursing, St Charles Boromeo Specialist Hospital, Onitsha, Anambra State. A consummate Nurse Educator, the late Sir Sylvester started his primary education at St Anthony’s Primary School Amanputu, Uli, where his father was the Headmaster. He obtained his first school leaving certificate in 1972.

From there, he proceeded to Great Uli Boys’ High School where he obtained his West African School Certificate (WAEC) in 1977. He got clerical job at the newly created Imo State Ministry of Commerce Orlu from there he got admission into School of Psychiatric Nursing, Psychiatric Hospital Enugu. Upon graduation in 1981, he was posted to Community Psychiatric Clinic Uli.

After a brief work experience as a community psychiatric nurse, the late Ogoegbulem proceeded to School of Nursing, Holy Rosary Hospital Emekukwu Owerri from 1987-1989 for his general nursing programme.

Upon graduation he was posted to Comprehensive Health Centre Azia as a Chief Nursing Superintendent. In 1991, he gained admission into University of Ibadan where he obtained BSC in Nursing as a Nurse Administrator in1995. In 2004 he proceeded to Imo State University a master degree programme in public health.

The statement by the family indicated that activities marking his final rites of passage would commence on Friday, October 22, 2021 with a Service of Songs/Day of Tribute by the Staff and student of College of Nursing, St Charles Boromeo Specialist Hospital, Onitsha, Anambra State.

On Thursday, October 28, a Vigil Mass would be held in his memory by 4pm at the St Paul’s Catholic Church, Ibiasoegbe, Oru-West Local Council of Imo state.

The body of late Sir Sylvester Ogoegbulem would commence its final journey when it leaves Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Ihiala, Anambra State for his hometown, Ibiasoegbe, Oru-West Local Council of Imo State.

After a brief lying in State in his compound, a Requim Mass would be held at St Paul’s Catholic Church, Ibiasoegbe, Oru-West Local Council of Imo state. Interment follows immediately after Mass in his compound.

The statement added that all Covid-19 protocols shall be strictly observed. The late Sir Ogoegbulem is survived by his wife, Lady Chinyere Susan Ogoegbulem, five children, brothers and sisters and numerous relations including Mr Simeon Ogoegbulem, Editor of True Vision Newspaper.
