A security expert, Mr. Femi Peters Afolabi, has advised security agencies to be on the alert at all times as result of incessant attacks, killings, rapes and wanton destruction of property by Fulani herdsmen because reprisals is their way of life as they never forgive their perceived foes.
He also averred that the Governor Seyi Makinde – led administration needs to re – jig the security architecture of the State in order arrest highly life – threatening situation.
This is against the backdrop of Fulani rampages in Oke Ogun Area of the State , particularly , Igangan and the crisis in Iwo Road and lnalende amongst several others in lbadan where some people lost their lives.
Afolabi stated that the Oyo State Government should consider the idea muted by the opposition political party on the need to convene a special security summit involving all stakeholders in other to tackle the problem on ground.
He observed that what happened in lgangan would have been nipped in the bud before it took place if the government had done and the security agencies had done the needful.
He added that the primary role of any government is to secure the lives and property of the people which is non – negotiable.
Afolabi further said that the killings in lgangan , lnalende and lwo Road portrayed both the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde and the men of the Nigerian police in bad light.
He expressed the view that the police should learn to be proactive rather than being reactionary and wondered if the insecurity situation would not be an albatross for the incumbent administration in the state.
