Peter Obi hails Ezekwesili at 60; salutes Chukwumerije’s performance poetry, says it speaks truth to power
Labour Party (LP) Presidential Candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has eulogised former Minister and ex-World Bank top shot, Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili as she clocks 60.
Mr. Obi, who attended the Dr. Oby Ezekwesili 60th Diamond Pre-Birthday symposium Thursday, said, in a tweet, that he was glad to have been among the many families, friends and well-wishers, who attended the program, stressing that Dr. Ezekwesili “epitomises a commitment to core values, due process, patriotism, and good governance.
“She has contributed selflessly to training future Nigerian disruptive thinkers and leaders through her SPPG programme. As she celebrates this day, I pray that God Almighty who has blessed her all these years will grant her many more healthy and happy years. PO.”
The LP Presidential Candidate also paid tribute to Dike Chukwumerijie, son of former Senator and one-time Minister, late Uche Chukwumerija, who has become a reference point in performance poetry in the country and beyond.
Obi said in another tweet, “I was privileged to listen to an exceptional Nigerian, author, spoken word and performance poetry artist and humanist, Dike Chukwumerijie. His spoken word forensics that painted the mosaic of a challenged Nigeria, was engrossing as it was frightening and indeed, troubling.
“The underpinning essence of his poetic narrations is that as citizens, we must continue to speak truth to power, offer constructive criticisms, and do so fearlessly and in the national interest. I salute his talent, courage and patriotism. -PO.”
