The election of the former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, as the Zonal Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), at the recently held Congress of the party in Osogbo, the Osun State capital has been attributed to pure merit and his outstanding political record.
The Oyo State PDP Publicity Secretary, Engineer Akeem Olatunji, made this clarification in lbadan, the Oyo State capital, saying that anyone who makes claims to the contrary is only been mischievous.
He also maintained that the Congress went well according to expectation and that people ought to disregard the negative comments of who are always out to paint gloomy pictures about the event.
Olatunji was of the view that nobody if he is sincere would ever doubt the political pedigree of Ambassador Arapaja who has paid his dues.
He said there was no cash given out to those who participated as delegates so that they can be induced to make the former Deputy Governor their choice in the election.
He added that there no need to do so as the new PDP South West Zonal Chairman has intimidating credentials that can speak favourably for him.
He also called the attention of everyone to the fact that the contest between Arapaja and his rival was a keenly contested one.
“I can say with all emphasis that no cash inducement was given to the delegates nor anyone at the Osogbo Congress either before , during or after.
“We all know that some people are always out to cause mischief and they should left to the judgment of their conscience.
“Ambassador Arapaja ‘s emergence as the Zonal Chairman of South West PDP was a well deserved one judging from his intimidating political credentials.
