‘Nigerians should keep enduring hardships’ – Information Minister Mohammed Idris

Nigeria’s Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris Malagi has urged citizens to remain patient and endure the current economic challenges, assuring that better days are ahead under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

 

Speaking after a meeting between the Federal Government and governors from the Progressive Governors Forum, the minister said the nation’s economy is now “on a solid footing” and moving towards the President’s $1 trillion economy target, reports Symfoni News.

 

“We are gradually achieving food sufficiency. Insecurity, which has troubled this country for years, is being tackled by Mr. President and the governors. The shortage of resources at both state and federal levels is also being addressed. More funds are now available for governments to deliver the promises of democracy,” he said.

 

The minister explained that such meetings help both levels of government align their policies and messaging for Nigerians to better understand government programmes.

 

“My job is to communicate what the government is doing. I don’t build roads or hospitals. I make sure Nigerians are aware of the policies and programmes so we can move together in unity,” he said.

 

On the Renewed Hope agenda, he declared that it is “cruising” and already producing positive results.

 

“All the major rating agencies are giving Nigeria’s economy better ratings. We know it’s not yet El Dorado, but there’s a clear sign we are heading in the right direction. By the time the President completes his first four years, Nigerians will be better off for it,” he assured.
