The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) Federal capital Territory (FCT) Command, has arrested the managing director/chief executive officer (CEO) of Zoe New Dawn Nigeria Limited, Mr Akpa Achema Stephen over criminal breach of trust and obtaining under false pretense.
Akpa Stephen is said to have engaged in dubious real estate transactions and in the process, fraudulently extorted over N1.716 billion from several subscribers by impersonating to be lawful owner of several properties within the FCT.
Akpa Stephen is the promoter of New Dawn Nigeria Limited, a company said to be engaged in real estate development, civil engineering and general contracts.
Police said the amount involved is likely to increase as more people turn up almost on daily basis to lay complaints and as investigations into allegations against him expands in scope.
The Commissioner for Police, FCT Command, The managing director and chief executive of Zoe properties Ltd, Mr Acheme Stephen Akpa was yesterday reminded in prison custody over fraudulent land transactions in Abuja.
It was learnt from top sources at the FCT Police Command that the arrest of Akpa Stephen followed his refusal to honour several invitations extended to him following several complaints laid against him by numerous people who had real estate transactions with him.
The New Dawn CEO was alleged to have collected huge sums of money both in local and foreign currencies from unsuspecting members of the public with a promise to deliver either fully built-up houses of different categories or estate land to his victims.
The police authorities have already obtained a Remand Order as a prelude to charging him to court for prosecution. He is expected to appear in court within the next couple of days.
