Diaspora Ties Strengthened: Rev. Dr. Annie Onu fosters renewed tiers with Abia State Union UK
Abia State Union UK has hosted a successful meet-and-greet with Rev. Dr. Annie Onu, Executive Secretary/CEO of the Abia State Diaspora Commission, at Coal City Restaurant in Edmonton, London.
The impromptu meeting brought together key members, including President Mazi Godson Odo Azu, Pastor Lawrence Oji, Mazi Sam Kalu, and other prominent Abians.
Rev. Dr. Annie Onu, who was en route to Nigeria from the United States, shared updates on the commission’s activities, highlighting progress made and challenges ahead. She emphasized her commitment to enhancing communication and collaboration with Abians in the diaspora.
“We are committed to closing the communication gaps and strengthening collaboration with Abians in the diaspora,” Rev. Dr. Annie Onu said.
President Mazi Godson Odo Azu commended her efforts and encouraged a more inclusive approach moving forward, reaffirming Abia State Union UK’s position as a vibrant and active diaspora community.
“Abia State Union UK remains one of the most vibrant and active diaspora communities, and we look forward to working together to drive progress,” President Azu said.
The meeting yielded two key requests: reactivating discussions on the Abia State Union UK Diaspora Land Matter with relevant state government stakeholders and establishing a stronger communication channel between the commission and ASUUK, particularly for the 2026 elections and hosting His Excellency, the Governor of Abia State, in London.
The gathering expressed gratitude to Rev. Dr. Annie Onu for her time despite a tight schedule and appreciated the Abians who attended at short notice. The meeting underscored the union’s commitment to progress and unity among Abians in the diaspora.
