Development of Kwara North, State Govt’s top priority – Towoju

The Kwara State Government has re-echoed its commitment towards ensuring the people of Kwara North enjoy the dividends of democracy and inclusiveness as against the social and economic barrier at play in the past.
This was affirmed by the state Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Olabode George Towoju, while on
an inspection tour to the newly-constructed radio station in Kwara North, Nootia FM 88.7 in Okuta, Baruten Local Government Area, with his management team.
Towoju, who stated that Governor AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq sees it as a “slap on Kwara State, which is known as a State of Harmony, that a segment of its people depend on Benin Republic Radio stations for information dessemination.
“Kwara North is of a high priority to governor AbdulRazaq. He loves you dearly and is sad that you have been neglected for so long. This Governor is a Governor for all. Whether you are in Kwara North, South or Central. There is no partiality. If other senatorial districts of the state are getting something, Kwara north too must not be neglected,” he added.
According to the Commissioner, the government of the day is interested in repositioning the media houses in the state and he reiterated that Radio Kwara is now on air for 24 hours with quality content, while adding that “the Herald Newspaper is also experiencing the midas touch of the Governor.” He also said the broadcast licence of Kakakin 88.9 FM has been received.
On the prompt completion of the project, Towoju gave a matching order to the workers on site that the casting of the tower should be completed by the weekend so they can proceed to the laying of the foundation for the antenna, saying that it is no longer business as usual in Kwara state and that good things should never be delayed.
He relayed that just recently, Kwara Television Authority witnessed a switch over to 24 hours transmission on Startimes Channel113 and FreeTV Channel 502 for the first time in its 25 years of existence, while noting that the TV station had hitherto gone off air since September 2021.
The General Manager of Radio Kwara, who was also on ground to receive the team, appreciated the efforts of the present administration in bringing hope to the people of the senatorial district, while also assuring that the project is in capable hands and that it will soon be commissioned.
