Buhari’s aide under fire, as APC stakeholders call for sanctions
According to sources within the party, Professor Dikio, despite being an appointee in the Buhari administration, by virtue of being an aide to his brother, the PAP Coordinator, is the flagbearer of Labour Party for the Rivers West Senatorial District in next year’s general election.
Reacting to the allegations leveled against Professor Dikio, former Director of Administration of the APC, Dr Abubakar Suleiman, demanded unreserved apology from the appointee and called on government to investigate the allegation and his activities.
“It is very unfortunate that such a thing or allegation will come at this point in time. The party and its leadership, especially the President and our flagbearer, have shown leadership over a long period of time and it’s disheartening that one of the key programmes under the presidency is being used to fund opposition parties
“It is not good for the party, it is not good for the country because at the end of the day, it will bring a lot of negativities to the government of President Buhari, just as it will not help the party in our push to install Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the next election.
“Can you imagine? A man who is contesting under the flag of an opposition party is in government, holding a key position, in a very sensitive organization, that has to do with the well-being of the people of the Niger Delta region and the same person is using this opportunity to cast aspersions on the government, on our President, and then on our candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, using one platform, ‘We the People of Nigeria’, in the US, syphoning money to them to carry on with these notorious activities.
“Professor Dikio must tender unreserved apology to the President, to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to the party and to the people of Nigeria. I also urge the government to set up a very high-level investigative panel to look into all these allegations and see to it that the government and the people of Nigeria are not shortchanged,” he said.
Also reacting to the allegation, a party stalwart in Kaduna State, Mrs. Stella Amako, described it as unfortunate, recommending that a thorough investigation be conducted and let the law take its course.
“From all contents ascribed or made by Professor ED Dikio, it’s really unimaginable and unfortunate for such to come from his likes, knowing fully well where his brother’s stand point is. My take is proper and adequate investigation should be conducted and if they are found wanting then let the full wrath of the law be carried out on them,” she said.
