The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Tuesday, said the All Progressives Congress was an amalgam of a group of disgruntled politicians, whose sole aim was to ensure ex-President Goodluck Jonathan’s second term bid, in 2015, was unsuccessful
This is the main opposition party in the country claimed that the ruling party had wobbled around its campaign promises for over six years, because it had no clear-cut programmes for Nigerians, from onset.
The Caretaker Committee Chairman of the PDP in Ebonyi State, Elder Fred Udeogu, stated this, in Abakaliki, before the takeoff of the party’s Local Government Area Congress, which held across the state, on Tuesday.
Udeogu said, “Everybody knows that the only party in Nigeria and even in Africa, is the PDP.
“What then is APC? There was nothing like the APC, until some aggrieved politicians left the PDP and said they have formed APC. This is very, very clear and that is why you have the APC finding it hard to fulfill its campaign promises to Nigerians till date, for over six years.
“They don’t have what it takes to rule Nigeria. Their main aim in 2015, was just to make sure Jonathan didn’t win, in 2015. Till date, can they boost of one thing they have achieved for the citizens? They can’t, because from onset they had not blueprint on how to govern this country.
He added, ‘God has been on our side since we came on board. For today’s Congress, we expected hitches and that was why we made arrangements to counter those envisaged hitches. But in this case, the hitches have already being taken care of.
“We were expecting that there will be a problem in one local government (Izzi) where the leadrers could not agree. But before I stepped out this morning, they called and said they were prepared for the Congress, that they have resolved the issue.
“There is no sincere politician that will say, I am closing the doors against people from coming in, No. As far as the business of politics is concerned, you are always at the point of expansion and the elasticity is always there. You continue to expand for people to be coming in.
“Then, when you talk of APC, we don’t know who is APC and who is not APC in Ebonyi State, because Ebonyi State is PDP. People who thought it was better to go the other way (APC), saw a different thing there and all of them came back. And we gave directive to our people at their different wards that they should accommodate them.
“Lately, we got information from our ICT team that we have registered about 750,000 persons. So, very soon we will be hitting a million. We are registering individuals who wants to be part of PDP. That is what we are doing and we are doing it in the whole federation. Again, Ebonyi State is PDP and nobody can change it.”
