The Nigeria National Petroleum Commission, NNPC Ltd, says three bodies have been recovered from one of the helicopters engaged by the company, which went missing on Thursday.
The helicopter, which lost contact at about 11:22am October 24, 2024, with eight persons on board had taken off from Port Harcourt NAF Base en route the FPSO – NUIMS ANTAN.
According to the statement signed by Olufemi O. Soneye, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPCL, the company has contacted the appropriate authorities, including the Ministry of Aviation, which have since issued a press statement.
The helicopter with register Number: 5NBQG, Limited was operated by East Winds Aviation.
Part of the statement read:
“Search and rescue missions are currently ongoing. So far, three (3) bodies have been recovered.
“We shall continue to monitor the situation and provide regular updates as the events unfold.
“Our prayers are with the passengers, crew and their respective families at this very difficult time.
“We will continue to do everything possible to support the ongoing search and rescue operation.”
